There are no words to describe the Blue Man Group's show. It is the most amazing mix of music, humor and technology.
I saw BMG at the Luxor in Las Vegas on October 3, 2002 (7 PM show). I had seen them on the Tonight Show and in the Pentium ads and was familiar with their music after purchasing "Audio", their CD. I was aware of the sense of humor incorporated into the show from television appearances. But I didn't know exactly what I was in for.
First
off, the show starts before the show starts. By that I mean, long before the
Blue Men come onstage, there is fun to be had. I'm not going to tip any of
the jokes, just be sure to read all of the signs. You might just have figured
out cold fusion.
Once the Blue Men do take the stage, you are in for a wild ride. It's amazing how the emotions come through without the benefit of dialogue. There are some amazing feats in the opening number(?) of the show, involving paint and marhmallows.
I
was extremely impressed with the use of technology in the show to make it
a true multimedia spectacle. There is one part where computer animations literally
walk of the screen and approach the audience on stage. I have no idea how
this was accomplished so seamlessly.
There isn't much to say beyond, "Go see this show". This alone was worth the trip to Vegas and will be the first thing I do when I go back in April. I'm hoping to make a stop in Chicago on my way back from Kansas City to see them next week.
If you're going to Vegas, New York, Chicago or Boston, make it a point to see the Blue Man Group. You will not be disappointed. You just might even figure out cold fusion.
